Während viele jubelten, erstarrten andere in Hilflosigkeit. Nicht jedoch Lisa Fittko. Als Widerstandskämpferin, Fluchthelferin, Kommunistin und Jüdin war Resignation für sie keine Option. Durch ihre Fluchthilfe für den Philosophen Walter Benjamin wurde sie weltbekannt; gewürdigt wird sie für ihre Unerschrockenheit und Solidarität selbst in düstersten Zeiten. Gemeinsam mit ihren Genoss*innen setzte sie den Widerstand gegen das NS-Regime fort und rettete mit ihrer Fluchtroute über die Pyrenäen zahlreichen Menschen das Leben.
