How do we want to pay?

In a world in which payments become more and more digital, we raise the question: How do we want to pay?

In the last few decades, we have seen a large increase of digital payment systems and new forms of digital currencies. One could analyze the pro's and con's of each of the available solutions, from perspectives such as of privacy, anti-money-laundering or inclusiveness. Instead, we start with a fundamental question - How do we want to pay? - and provide a comprehensive list of problem domains (technical, economical, security, privacy, etc.) that any payment system has to deal with. We compare existing payment systems according to the various problem domains and measurable aspects.
