In this talk I want to explore the possibilities which are unlocked when we transcend the traditional programming model (which Rich Hickey calls "place-oriented programming", or "PLOP" for short) to a value based approach. To that end I will explain what exactly "values" are and how they can help us to side step a whole class of problems inherent in PLOP.
