Even as conversations around the appropriate limits of government surveillance are taking place around the world, some countries are seeking to expand their surveillance powers with user privacy and security hanging in the balance. In this talk, Jochai Ben-Avie will explore the surveillance reform landscape, in particular recent responses to the CJEU’s decision last year to strike down the Data Retention Directive.
